The independent (and former UKIP) MP Douglas Carswell has announced that he will not stand in the upcoming general election.
Instead, the MP has traded his role to back the Tory party come 8th June.
He quit UKIP last month despite the fact he was the only MP from the party elected in 2015.
Carswell said: “Having been an MP for about half my adult life, I believe that it is time for me to move on to other things."
Social media users have been quick to react and some were less than impressed by the news.
Some also used it as an opportunity to poke fun at the politician.
However others were quick to defend Carswell's move and wished him the best for the future.
With this move, many are asking what else can possibly happen in the 49 days running up to the election.
Polls are currently leaning towards a Conservative victory. Tories leading by almost twice as many votes.
