40% of Brits think having the flu vaccine gives you flu
The research by the National Pharmacy Association reveals that nearly 39% of people mistakenly thought that getting a flu jab would make them ill. 1 in 10 people also believe that going out in the cold with wet hair makes you sick, and a similar number wrongly thought that the best course of action for coughs and colds is to take antibiotics. On top of that a small percentage believed that the larger the pill, the stronger the medication – all myths.
Patients are being urged to raise health concerns they may have been reluctant to ask their pharmacist about before. They’re being reassured that nothing is off limits in terms of what you can ask your pharmacist about medicines, health or general well-being.
