London's best Christmas markets

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas (markets). That's right, it's almost time for the capital's seasonal markets, pop-ups and art fairs to provide us with shopping, scrumptious food and the chance to enjoy an endless supply of mulled wine. 

Whether you're a family of four looking for a festive tree lighting ceremony or on the hunt for a new hangout spot, here's a rundown of the most festive markets this season.


E17 Designers Christmas Market
Walthamstow will become a veritable hub of creativity with artists, designers and craftsmen coming together for two days of seasonal shopping. If you can't make it, don't fret - the organisers will also be setting up a second market at Mirth, Marvel & Maud, one of the area's local pubs, on 16 December.

The Swedish Church Christmas Fair
In the mood for a Scandinavian Christmas? Take a trip down to the Swedish C
hurch in Marylebone this November. A crowd favourite, with more than 6,000 visitors every year. If the Swedish knick-knacks aren’t enough to entice you, there'll also be a pop-up café selling traditional Swedish sandwiches with meatballs and cheese in the church hall. Oh, and make sure you don't forget to grab yourself a cup of glögg.

Massive Arts Christmas Fayre
For one day only, independent artists and designers are taking over the Ritzy in Brixton. Pick up Christmas gifts in the form of creative t-shirts, jewellery, paintings and more, with food and festive tunes at your fingertips. Home Alone will also be featured on a screen in the background, to distract the kids while you shop.

London Bridge City Christmas Market
This annual treat is back with 68 independent traders in a chalet-style venue. With a spot-on view of Tower of London and Tower Bridge, you can peruse what delicious morsels fill the pop-up food stalls and have a cosy shopper’s afternoon with a Christmas cocktail in hand.

Southbank Centre Christmas Market 
Southbank Centre is going all out this season with a Finnish Rooftop Sauna, booming Nordic music and a huge New Year’s Eve Party. Pop by for seasonal goodies, street food from around the world and hot drinks. Whether you're bringing your young tots or looking for a magical first date spot, this is the place to be.

Greenwich Market at Christmas 
The never-ending hills and Old Royal Naval College make Greenwich a great place to wander. More than 150 stalls will set up shop at this World Heritage site with antiques, festive street food, and hot tipples to keep you warm. On 22 November, there will also be a children’s lantern procession with a Christmas lighting ceremony.

Kingston Christmas Market
The streets of Kingston-upon-Thames will be transformed into a miniature Winter wonderland with seasonal music, sweet and savoury delights and of course, plenty of shopping opportunities. Santa will be there with his elves, to greet the little ones and oversee the Christmas lights switch on.
