London Cocktail Club - A Review

The London Cocktail Club, nicknamed the ‘cocktail pharmacy’ opened a shop on a corner of Essex Road in Islington in November, 2016, joining its group of 9 clubs in total spread across London. The exterior doesn’t really stand out on the busy high street, its bland, black sign blends into its surroundings but once you’re inside, the candle lit booths and relaxed atmosphere is more than welcoming.

If you’re looking for a nice, bright place to enjoy a few drinks with friends on a sunny day, this venue probably isn’t the best. It doesn’t have a beer garden or much light for that matter. Think of a sort of basement bar with dark walls and a chequered black and white bar surrounding an impressive display of mixed liquor lit by neon backlights. Its candle lit booths and tables make or a comfortable setting for after work drinks or a Saturday night out – unless you’ve got the tall stool on the outside.

They’ve got a nice mixture of classic and unique cocktails, mixing real fruit, spirits, syrups and juices for something refreshing and tasty. The daily happy hour of 2-4-1 features all of their £9 cocktails across the menu, which is nice for your pockets.

The chain is owned by JJ Goodman who is also the founder and CEO of, Craft Cocktail Co., and owner of the Arts Theatre West End in Covent Garden and has plenty of lifestyle and bartending awards firmly under his belt. He says that his new vision is to ‘open doors for Britain’s unemployed youth and in collectivity with industry leading companies’.

You can find another one of their bars on Goodge Street, Shaftesbury Avenue, Oxford Circus, Shoreditch, Bethnal Green, Monument and Bishopgate as well as the one in Islington.
